Tissue used for papering vials

We add paper to vials with many larvae to create extra surface area for pupation. This is a photograph of what it looks like when paper is first added to the vials.

We use Envison® (formerly called Acclaim®) 2-Ply White Interfolded Facial Tissue by Georgia-Pacific. These tissues have no dyes or fragrances added

After you add paper, over time, the larvae will crawl up and pupate, creating a structure that looks like this image.

If you do not add paper, in some species (e.g. D. cardini), you will get larvae crawling up the sides of the vial and then dying as shown.
